TEHRAN- The second edition of Sobh International Media Festival came to an end with a ceremony in Tehran earlier this week, featuring artists, international guests, and officials from the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).
Mohsen Yazdi, the secretary of the event, opened the ceremony by explaining that the initial plan was to hold the event in a large hall, but due to the untimely death of President Raisi, the format was changed.
For his part Peyman Jebelli, the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), said that they had agreed to have President Raisi as a special guest at the ceremony, but unfortunately, they missed the opportunity to hear his words.
He emphasized that the Islamic Republic has achieved its goals through its independence, self-awareness, and courage. He added that the country has become stronger day by day due to its independence, not relying on great powers, not compromising on its sovereignty, seeking truth, and defending oppressed people around the world.
He also highlighted the story of young Palestinian journalists who have become news anchors in Gaza, broadcasting live to the world.
Jebeli praised Israa El-Buhaisi, a Palestinian reporter for Al-Alam, calling her an embodiment of media resistance in Gaza. He noted that individuals like her are rare in Gaza and are working tirelessly to raise public awareness about Israel’s crimes.
Jebeli also emphasized the importance of independent media events like Sobh festival, saying that they can have very good results not only in Iran and the region but also around the world.
He concluded by saying that despite the challenges faced by independent media outlets, they are still an important part of countering Western imperialism.
The second edition of Sobh International Media Festival, which opened in Tehran on May 19, covered various categories such as television and radio production, as well as podcasting and social media.
The event dedicated a special section to the Palestinian cause and centered on Gaza conflict, with a particular emphasis on the October 7 Operation.
It also highlighted the role of Western media in whitewashing the Tel Aviv regime’s war crimes in Gaza.
