Doha, May 16 (QNA) – The State of Qatar participated in the 15th International Economic Forum “Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum 2024,” currently held in Kazan, the Republic of Tatarstan, and runs until May 19.
HE Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanem chaired the delegation of the State of Qatar to the Forum with the membership of HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Mohammed bin Hassan Al Malki.
The delegation witnessed the official opening ceremony of the international exhibition “Russia Halal Expo.”
On the sidelines of the forum, the delegation met separately with HE President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, His Excellency Mr. Marat Khusnulin, HE Deputy Chairman of the Government of Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin, and HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan Oleg Korobchenko.
During the meetings, which were attended by HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Russian Federation Sheikh Ahmed bin Nasser Al-Thani, they discussed topics of common concern that aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the trade, investment, and industrial fields. In addition, they exchanged views on topics on the forum’s agenda.
They also highlighted the successful economic policies established by the State of Qatar to support the private sector, indicating the incentives, legislation, and promising opportunities available in the country aimed at encouraging investors, businesspersons, and company owners to invest in the State of Qatar.
In a related context, the delegation toured the “Russia Halal Expo,” which is held within the framework of the forum’s activities, and was briefed on the various pavilions, services, and products provided by the participating companies and institutions.
The Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum 2024 aims to strengthen trade, economic, scientific, technical, educational, social, and cultural ties between the regions of the Russian Federation and the member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The forum witnessed the organization of many events and panel discussions that focused on several topics, including sectors of Islamic finance, halal industry, international cooperation, logistics, industry, sustainable development, environmental, social, and institutional governance, information technology, innovation, investment, entrepreneurship, SMEs, education, medicine, and sports.
The forum witnessed two special sessions on the media, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the founding of the OIC, under the title ‘the main trends in the transformation of the information field in the modern world and the countries of the OIC,” and “the information space between unification and fragmentation” at the levels of the world and Islamic countries, for media representatives, in the presence of the heads of national news agencies of the OIC countries and the Russian Federation, and the heads of major broadcasting organizations, during which issues of modern media and their development in media-influential countries at the global level were discussed and modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of things, and cloud computing and its impact on shaping contemporary information were also highlighted.
