Indonesia, Australia Launch Third Phase of Education Partnership Program INOVASI

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Australia and Indonesia, through its Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Ministry of Religious Affairs, and the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) launched INOVASI on Thursday as part of their partnership in the education sector. This program, “Inovasi untuk Anak Sekolah Indonesia” or “Innovation for Indonesian Schoolchildren” is aimed at supporting elementary school learning in Indonesia.The third phase of the INOVASI program will support the implementation and launch of education reforms and priorities. Madelaine Moss, Minister-Counsellor for Governance and Human Development, Australian Embassy, said that her side is enthusiastic about expanding partnerships in education and elementary schools to more provinces, including West Java and Maluku.Meanwhile, Anindito Aditomo, Head of the Educational Curriculum and Assessment Standards Agency (BSKAP) said that the regional education ecosystem bears the spirit of mutual cooperation, as evidenced during the COVID-19 pandemic. With mutual cooperation, Indonesia was able to survive the loss of learning time during the pandemic.“Education is a long-term endeavor. Collaboration is needed to ensure every child gets the best education services,” said Anindito.Secretary of the Directorate General of Islamic Education Rohmat Mulyana highlighted the role of the educational ecosystem in improving Islamic school’s quality. The Ministry of Religious Affairs serves more than 10 million students in 87,0000 Islamic schools across Indonesia. Rohmat emphasized the strong relationship between local stakeholders, including those from the Islamic education sector, supporting the ministry in offering comprehensive, high-quality, and equitable education services to students.Australia and Indonesia have partnered on the INOVASI program since 2016.
