During the annual meeting of the Strategic Vision Group “Russia – Islamic World” in Kazan, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, proposed developing an Islamic initiative for peace to be presented at the United Nations General Assembly.
“At this forum, I propose considering the possibility of developing an Islamic initiative for peace, mutual understanding, and trust. I envision it as a coordinated set of approaches and proposals, serving as a kind of roadmap based on the principles of Islam as a religion of peace, goodness, and justice. I believe it is appropriate to discuss this proposal with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other international structures. Let us work together on the text and present it at one of the sessions of the UN General Assembly as an official document,” stated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
He also acknowledged the significant contribution of the Head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, to strengthening Russia’s ties with the Islamic world and Turkmen-Tatar relations, as reported by the press service of the leader of Tatarstan on Thursday.
“Thanks to Rustam Minnikhanov’s work as a politician and diplomat, respectful and trusting open relations are being established with the leaders of many states. We see significant progress in this direction,” emphasized Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people highlighted that Russia and Islamic countries demonstrate an example of how relations between states and peoples should be built: “Respectfully, on an equal footing, taking into account the needs and requirements of partners, without resorting to pressure or threats.”
During his visit to Kazan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also attended the Russia Halal Expo exhibition.
