The meeting was held on Wednesday, as several heads of state and high-ranking delegations arrived in Iran to take part in a ceremony to honor the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his entourage.
Haniyeh expressed condolences to Ayatollah Khamenei and to the Iranian government and nation.
The leader, for his part, condoled the Hamas chief over the martyrdom of three sons of Haniyeh during a targeted Israeli attack. Ayatollah Khamenei also lauded the patience of Haniyeh.
Praising the “extraordinary” resistance of the people of Gaza, Ayatollah Khamenei said, “Who could believe that one day slogans would be chanted in support of Palestine and the Palestinian flag would be hoisted in American universities?”

“Also, in the future, incidents may happen regarding the Palestinian issue that are not believable today,” he said.
Pointing to Quranic verses that refer to two divine promises to the mother of Hazrat Musa (AS), Ayatollah Khamenei added that the first divine prophecy concerning the Palestinian people has now come to pass, marked by the triumph of the small community of Gaza over the formidable forces of America, NATO, England, and several other nations.
“Accordingly, the second promise, which is the elimination of the Zionist regime, can also be realized,” he said, hoping that the day will arrive when Palestine will be liberated from the sea to the river.
On Sunday, the helicopter carrying Raesi and his entourage crashed as it was on its way to Tabriz, the capital of Iran’s East Azarbaijan province, from a location on the border with the Republic of Azerbaijan where the Iranian president had opened a major dam project.
Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and two senior provincial officials along with crew members and bodyguard also died in the crash.
