The first session of the sixth session of the Iranian Leadership Assembly of Experts opened on Tuesday in the presence of several government officials and foreign ambassadors.
During the session, the empty seats of two council members, President Ebrahim Raisi and Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Al-e Hashem, were adorned with black flags.
In a message delivered at the session’s outset, the Leader of the Revolution and the Islamic Republic of Iran Sayyed Ali Khamenei, underscored that the Assembly of Experts epitomizes “the embodiment of Islamic popular sovereignty.”
Sayyed Khamenei further emphasized that “selecting the leader according to Islamic principles is the council’s responsibility” and reiterated that “the people’s choice, per Islamic standards, is the most significant gauge of the Islamic Republic.”
In this context, Sayyed Khamenei urged the global conscience to examine the unsuccessful endeavors of regimes that purportedly champion justice and freedom but diverge from religious moral principles. He highlighted that such regimes often propagate chaos, injustice, and racism, leading to a decline in moral stability and weakening the status of women.
West’s endorsement of Gaza genocide exposes their true nature
Sayyed Khamenei emphasized that “the West’s liberal endorsement of the ongoing catastrophe in Gaza and the unjust genocide perpetrated by the Zionist entity, resulting in the deaths of thousands of children, women, and defenseless civilians, starkly exposes the true nature of Western notions of freedom and human rights.”
He concluded his message by honoring the memory of the late members of the Leadership Assembly of Experts, President of the Republic Ebrahim Raisi, and Friday Imam of Tabriz Mohammad Ali Al-e Hashem, praying for God’s mercy and forgiveness for them.
The sixth session of the Iranian Leadership Assembly of Experts opened on Tuesday, after the death of President Raisi, Al-e Hashem, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and five others from the delegation accompanying them, as a result of a plane crash in the airspace of East Azerbaijan.
It is noteworthy that the Assembly of Experts is one of the main institutions of the Islamic Republic of Iran, whose primary mission is to elect the Leader of the Republic and monitor his performance. It consists of 88 members who hold a degree of religious jurisprudence and are elected by the people.
